A North Surrey security guard who broke up a fight earlier this week was shot at by the victim's friends.

At about midnight on Thursday (Aug. 28), a man was being beaten by a number of other men at 113B Avenue and 132 Street.

A security guard, unhappy with what he saw, intervened, causing the attackers to flee.

Moments later, friends of the victim came by in a truck and picked him up.

Once the victim was inside the vehicle, someone allegedly lowered a gun and fired it at the security guard.

The guard was not hit or harmed in the incident.

Police arrived and tracked the truck to a nearby residence in the 12900-block of 100 Avenue.

Three suspects were taken into custody and the man that was assaulted was taken to hospital.

The investigation is still in its early stages and is ongoing.

Any relationship between the parties has not yet been determined.
