Heavy rain, wind cause power outages in White Rock

Chance of showers throughout the evening

Strong winds and heavy rains created power outages and flooding in South Surrey and White Rock area Tuesday.

Environment Canada said the southern portions of the region could see winds of southeasterly winds of 60 to 80 kilometres per hour.

Environment Canada is warning that loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Waves pummeled White Rock beach, and several outages were reported on the BC Hydro website. Tuesday afternoon, BC Hydro and White Rock firefighters responded to a downed power line near the Peace Arch Hospital.
