A new off-ramp has opened on Highway 99 in Delta at 80th Street, providing easier access to Boundary Bay Airport and the industrial park there.
The off-ramp connects motorists heading south on Highway 99 to Ladner Trunk Road at 80th.
Transportation ministry officials say it will significantly improve access to areas south of Highway 99 and reduce congestion along the corridor.
A second phase slated for fall calls will add a lengthened acceleration lan under the Ladner Trunk Road overpass, improving safety for motorists merging onto Highway 99 northbound.
Also, Ladner Trunk Road will be widened to four lanes through the Hornby Drive intersection to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at this busy intersection.
The province and Delta split the cost of the $10-million project.
