Surrey Mounties are asking for public help in identifying the suspect in a recent hit-and-run collision.

On Monday, Jan. 5, at about 3:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a collision at the intersection of 140 Street and Fraser Highway.

Upon arrival, police learned that a grey Nissan Altima was heading south on 140 Street when it struck a green Honda Accord heading west on Fraser Highway.

The driver of the Accord fled.

His male passenger was located, but provided limited information to police.

The driver of the Altima remained at the scene and suffered minor injuries.

Police then found video surveillance, which showed the suspect driver leaving the scene and entering a nearby convenience store.

The driver is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 6’, heavier set, wearing dark pants, dark jacket, white hoodie, and black and white sneakers. He is also believed to be missing a part of his left ear.

“We believe that the suspect driver in this collision is involved in other ongoing criminal activity,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet. “As such we are hopeful that the public can help us make a positive identification and prevent any future criminality.”

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
