A man was airlifted to hospital from South Surrey Monday evening after a jeep rolled into a ditch.

A 37-year-old South Surrey man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Monday following a single-vehicle crash that ended with a Jeep on its side in a South Surrey ditch.

The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the 15700-block of Cranley Drive.

A witness told police the Jeep "just drove off the road," Cpl. Drew Grainger said.

Emergency crews arrived to find the driver trapped and unconscious. Freed by firefighters, the man was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital.

Grainger said alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Charges of impaired driving are being considered, he said.
