A 23-year old man has now been charged in connection with an attack on bus driver in Surrey earlier this week.

Brandon John Watterworth has been charged with robbery and breach of recognizance. He is in custody and had a court appearance scheduled for today (Thursday).

Police say Watterworth is well-known to them.

He was on bail related to 2012 charges in Surrey of assaulting a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a prohibited weapon without a licence, and a Vancouver Police Department charge of breach of recognizance. His bail conditions included a curfew and abstaining from alcohol and drug consumption.

B.C. Transit Police allege he was involved in an incident Monday night where a Coast Mountain Bus operator was punched and had his glasses stolen. The suspect was arrested Wednesday.
