Fisher was originally arrested in Surrey in December on three counts of sexual exploitation, one count of breach of trust, one count of sexual assault and one count of obstructing justice by providing false or misleading information.

The charges stem from a 10-month investigation into incidents between August and December 2015, including the alleged touching of a witness in a criminal prosecution, as well as allegedly providing false information to a Burnaby RCMP officer in November 2016.

The victims are alleged to one juvenile and one adult.

Fisher was a longtime detective with the VPD’s unit that investigates child exploitation, and received the 2015 Chief Constable Unit Citation for extraordinary dedication for his part in the force’s probe into a child-trafficking case.

His next court appearance is set for May 30 in Surrey.
