The court case of a 19-year-old Surrey man charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of White Rock resident Marilyn Laursen has been continued to September.

Kyle Brandon Danyliuk’s case is next scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Sept. 5.

Danyliuk faces charges of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, flight from police causing death and flight from police causing bodily harm.

Laursen, 56, was hit just before 10 p.m., May 18, as she and a close friend were crossing Johnston Road at Thrift Avenue.

Police say the car that struck her had just avoided a police stop and hit another vehicle before leaving the scene.

It was found abandoned a short time later in the area of 160 Street and King George Boulevard.

Danyliuk was arrested in Surrey on July 18 as he was leaving a store.

No trial date has yet been set.
