Semiahmoo First Nation is now charging $5 per day for parking in Peace Arch Provincial Park.
BC Parks issued an alert bulletin prior to the Canada Day long weekend, noting that while parking is free in all provincial parks on BC Parks land, the Peace Arch Provincial Park lot is located on Semiahmoo First Nation land. The department also notes that since the lot is technically outside of the park, BC Parks can’t be held responsible for vehicles or their occupants while in the lot.
BC Parks staff are continuing active discussions with the Semiahmoo First Nation over use of the lot for visitors, according to the bulletin.
