SURREY — Four vehicles were damaged after a head-on collision Sunday night in which one of the drivers had a “medical episode,” according to police.
A witness said a man behind the wheel became unconscious after having an overdose, and that Narcan - an opioid overdose reversal drug - was administered at the scene.
Police would not confirm that an overdose occurred, or that Narcan was used.
Schumann said the crash, which happened around 6:15 p.m. on June 4, happened when the driver of a GMC Yukon travelling northbound on King George Boulevard near 132nd Street crossed into oncoming traffic, sideswiping one vehicle and hitting another head-on.
“Then one of those vehicles in turn truck a third vehicle,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann, adding that “there doesn’t appear to be injuries to anybody. All were out of their vehicles when police arrived.”
Schumann said police are considering impairment as a factor in the crash.
