Off-duty police officer arrests shoplifter in Delta

The Vancouver police department officer chased the suspect out of the mall before arresting him

An off-duty Vancouver police officer is credited with catching a shoplifter at Tsawwassen Mills on Friday, Dec. 8.

On Friday, the Hector Edgardo Valle, 30, alledgedly took a drone from a store without paying, according to a Delta police release.

The off-duty officer chased the Valle out of the mall, and subsequently arrested him. Delta police were contacted, and took charge of the Valle.

At the time of the arrest, Valle was found to be in possession of stolen ID.

Valle, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possessing an identity document. He is considered well-known to police, and is currently in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.
