Police investigating a Nov. 29 crash at 176 Street and 2 Avenue – just north of the Pacific Highway border – say one person was cited for “speeding relative to conditions and fail to display license plate.”

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Elenore Sturko said confirmed the violation tickets Tuesday.

The crash, reported to police around 8 a.m. Nov. 29, occurred when a dark-coloured crossover vehicle hit a light stand. The impact toppled the post and caused significant front-end damage to the vehicle.

Police initially described the incident as a hit-and-run, stating the driver had “fled on foot.”

A man who contacted Peace Arch News later Thursday said he saw a man wearing a green jacket run from the scene then return in a white shirt that was “covered in blood.”

“By the time police arrived, the driver had come back to the vehicle,” said the witness, who didn’t want to be identified but said he was driving southbound and came upon the wreck “just after it happened.”

The following day, Sturko told PAN that police did “speak with individuals involved.”

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information may contact police at 604-599-0502.
