Police seek man who tried to lure girl in North Surrey

Suspect told 13-year-old to get into his van, instead she fled to get help.

Police are looking for a man for the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl Surrey girl last week.

On Wednesday, July 20, a girl in the area of Jay Crescent and Eagle Place in North Surrey was walking with several grocery bags in hand.

A man driving a newer model tan-coloured minivan drove toward her and asked if he could give her a ride.

When she ignored him he yelled "Get in the van now."

The teen ran to a nearby home where several adult women were standing outside.

The van was last seen driving out of the area along Jay Crescent.

The Surrey RCMP are seeking the public's assistance to identify the man police believe may have been responsible.

He is described as a brown-eyed Caucasian male 40 years of age with collar length salt and pepper coloured hair. He had a closely cropped beard and mustache and a slightly pock marked face.

The male appeared to be alone in a newer model domestic tan coloured minivan with dark tinted windows.
