The Surrey Board of Education is seeking input from the public about priorities for the 2013-2014 school year.

The Surrey Board of Education is seeking input from members of the public as to what programs and services should be priorities for the 2013-2014 school year.

Like this year, needs in Surrey schools for next year will continue to outpace funds the district expects to receive from the provincial government, meaning budget deliberations will be more about sustaining services than adding new ones.

The Surrey School District's total operating budget for the current school year is roughly $577 million.

The board will be meeting with teachers, employees, parents and other stakeholder groups in the next few weeks to discuss challenges and gather feedback and ideas.

Other community members are welcome to make submissions by writing to: Mr. Wayne Noye, Secretary-Treasurer, School District No. 36, 14033 92 Ave., Surrey, B.C. V3V 0B7; fax: 604-595-6307; e-mail: budget@surreyschools.ca

Submissions should be received no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 28. Additional information on the school district, including financial reports, are available at www.surreyschools.ca
