Robbery suspect should have looked to the stars

Horoscope advised him to listen to his intuition on June 16

A man believed to have robbed a store in North Surrey last week, either has bad intuition or failed to read his horoscope for the day.

On Thursday (June 16), multiple plainclothes police officers were performing an operation in the 10600-block of King George Boulevard, when they received a report of an armed robbery occurring right next to them.

Police believe Mark Sutherland, 47, had allegedly robbed a local store and was fleeing on a bike.

They gave chase and the suspect dumped the bike and took off on foot.

He was arrested by police in a nearby ravine. Police also retrieved a black replica handgun, which the suspect dropped while fleeing.

Sutherland, an Aries, was born April 5, 1969.

His horoscope for June 16 advised him to tune into his intuition.

“Whatever happens over the next few days, be it good, bad or indifferent, you will handle it with a great deal of flair,” said his horoscope in the Globe and Mail for that day. “This is an especially good time to make decisions concerning your career and material possessions. Let your intuition guide you.”

Sutherland is facing charges of robbery, disguising face with intent to commit an offence and use of an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence.

He is in custody pending his next court appearance.
