Surrey RCMP members and their public safety partners gathered Monday afternoon at B.C. RCMP Headquarters at Green Timbers in Surrey for a memorial march for slain Alberta RCMP Const. David Wynn.
Wynn, 42, died last Wednesday, four days after he and auxiliary Const. Derek Bond were shot during a struggle with a suspected car thief at a casino in St. Albert, Alta. Wynn was shot in the head and never regained consciousness before he died.
The shooter, career criminal Shawn Rehn, killed himself hours later.
Surrey's march – which took place after a regimental funeral for Wynn in St. Albert that drew thousands – was followed by the laying of wreaths at the Peace Officer Memorial.
The RCMP in B.C. also sent an official delegation to St. Albert for the fallen officer's service.
