Serious injuries in South Surrey crash

A White Rock senior is recovering from serious injuries following a collision Friday afternoon at 184 Street and 32 Avenue.

A White Rock senior suffered serious injuries Friday, when the Nissan Ultima she was driving was T-boned at the intersection of 184 Street and 32 Avenue.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Barb Creighton said the collision occurred at 3:10 p.m. March 23.

According to a police report, the 73-year-old was northbound on 184 Street when she failed to stop for a red light and was struck by an eastbound Ford Expedition.

Both vehicles suffered substantial damage, Creighton said. The SUV driver, a 33-year-old Langley man, was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

Both roads were closed for “a few” hours while police investigated. No penalty had been issued as of Peace Arch News deadline Monday afternoon, however, Creighton said it is likely the senior will be cited for failing to stop at a red light.
