Six people – including a 43-year-old White Rock woman and a 37-year-old Port Coquitlam man – were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash in South Surrey Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of 152 Street and King George Boulevard.
Witnesses told police a Honda van northbound on 152 Street collided with a southbound Volvo that was turning left onto King George.
"According to witnesses it appeared (the van driver) was going to stop for a yellow light then at the last minute, decided she was going to go through," Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said.
The impact pushed the Volvo to the intersection's northeast corner, and scattered debris from both vehicles across the road.
Police, firefighters and paramedics attended. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
King George Boulevard was closed to northbound traffic between 26 Avenue and 152 Street while crews dealt with the scene. Traffic north- and southbound on 152 Street was also diverted.
Investigation is ongoing.
