A South Surrey teen who died last weekend in an ATV crash in Roberts Creek has been identified as 17-year-old Jordan Steven Tsuruda.
The Earl Marriott Secondary student – who was a triplet – is being remembered as “such a funny guy with a priceless smile on your face every day.”
Tsuruda died April 2, from injuries suffered after his ATV hit a concrete barrier near a bridge. According to Sunshine Coast RCMP – who initially reported the victim as 18 years old – the impact threw him about 30 feet down a ravine.
Facebook tributes this week describe Tsuruda as “a genuinely loving soul who had never ceased to exhibit a care for others and their well-being.”
On a condolences page hosted by Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre – where a service is planned for April 13 – teacher Michael MacKay-Dunn writes it was “an honour” to teach Tsuruda, whom he describes as “a sparkling soul and outstanding student.”
Tsuruda is survived by parents Karen and Ken, siblings Savanna and Nathan, and numerous other family members and friends.
Wednesday’s celebration of life is set to get underway at 1 p.m.; Victory Memorial is located at 14831 28 Ave. in South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation are suggested.
