Surrey police are appealing to the public for help following a pair of thefts in recent months targeting industrial-grade electrical equipment at a Campbell Heights business.

The latest occurred Oct. 29, when culprits made off with two transformers, one of which weighed 14,000 pounds.

And on Aug. 26, several pieces of equipment were damaged and valuable internal materials were taken.

Both thefts occurred at a business in the 19700-block of 27 Avenue, and total losses have been estimated at $200,000.

In a news release issued Wednesday, Sgt. Paul Hayes noted the more recent theft took a concerted effort.

"The two transformers in question are very large and extremely heavy and would have required vehicles with lifting equipment and several persons to complete the theft,” he said.

Anyone with information on the crimes, or who believes they know where the equipment is, is asked to contact police at 604-599-0502.
