Concern for a man’s well-being resulted in a strong police presence near South Surrey Indoor Pool early Wednesday evening.

Neighbours report seeing seven police cars along 146 Street near 17 Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

Surrey RCMP Sgt. Alanna Dunlop said officers were dispatched to a home near there about an hour before that, at 4:30 p.m., following a report someone was threatening to harm themselves.

“There was no risk to the public,” she said. “We just like to take extra precaution when we deal with something like that.”

One person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to hospital, Dunlop said.
