Police attention to a group of young men in a South Surrey parking lot last week was connected to a file "that is being investigated by one of our federal units," officials say.
Further details, however, were not disclosed, including if there was an arrest.
"At this point, I can't really say anything other than it's part of an active investigation," Sgt. Annie Linteau told Peace Arch News.
