More charges will be soon be laid against a White Rock woman charged with multiple dog-theft-related offences.
Janet Olson, founder of A Better Life Dog Rescue, was told the additional charges will be laid by the end of this week or early next week when she made a brief appearance in Surrey Provincial Court on Tuesday (Feb. 21).
"I heard there were charges coming," Olson said outside court.
"I've been arrested four times now, because they will put one more charge on me, arrest for me it, and then another charge on me, arrest me for it."
Olson was one of two women arrested in November in connection with what police described as "an elaborate dog-theft investigation" into allegations a rescue group was stealing dogs from backyards across the Lower Mainland.
At the time, police said investigators observed Olson and co-accused Louise Reid enter a Coquitlam backyard and walk away with a bulldog named Samson.
Other charges have been laid in connection with other alleged incidents in White Rock, Surrey, Richmond and Abbotsford.
Olson said her lawyer is pressing the Crown prosecutor's office to disclose how the police came to witness the Coquitlam incident,
She said she has heard three different police versions of events, ranging from continuing surveillance to a tip.
"This is what 14 constables are doing while sex offenders go free," Olson said.
"I'm hoping the public will see the absurdity of this and understand that the priorities are all screwed up.
"And why are their priorities screwed up, why are they focusing on us?
"The only thing that makes sense to us is that it is a personal vendetta," she added.
Her next court appearance is set for March 7 in Surrey provincial Court.
