Four-vehicle crash in Surrey takes out traffic signal, police investigating suspected impaired driver

Highway 15/176th Street at Golden Ears Way was littered with debris

A crash partially shut down Highway 15/176th Street at Golden Ears Way for more than an hour Tuesday (July 20).

Surrey RCMP Sergeant Elenore Sturko said the four-vehicle crash stemmed from a “Dodge truck (that) allegedly cut off and hit another vehicle.” Police got the call around 8:20 p.m., she added.

She said one of the drivers was “suspected to be impaired by alcohol” and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a vehicle.

Surrey RCMP is now conducting an impaired driving investigation.

Sturko added all the injuries were “minor in nature.”

Photos and video of the scene from a Black Press Media freelancer showed debris covering the road, including a traffic signal.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for more than an hour, he noted, as crews investigated and cleared up the scene.
