Surrey man pepper sprayed and shot

Police tape off the apartment where a man was shot Sunday morning in Whalley.


More violence has broken out in a North Surrey apartment building, this time it was a the targeted shooting of a 53-year-old man.

Surrey RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 call at 9 a.m. Sunday at Cedar Gardens Apartments, at 13370 King George Blvd.

Five men, four Caucasian and on Black, appeared at the man's door, shot him with pepper spray and shot him in the stomach.

The group then fled in what is believed to be a white car, either a late model Cadillac or Chrysler 300.

Police say the heavy-set Iranian man who was shot, is known to police, but they couldn't say whether the attack was gang related.

He was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say it's not the first time they've been called to attend incidents at Cedar Gardens Apartments.

Last Christmas, a woman was shot in the chest at the apartments.
