A Surrey man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon following a collision in South Surrey.
According to police, the 47-year-old motorcyclist is recovering in hospital after crashing into a car whose driver was attempting to do a U-turn in the 2300-block of King George Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m. The driver was in a designated U-turn area at the time.
The motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his arms, as well as some cuts and bruises, Surrey RCMP told Peace Arch News Wednesday.
The 77-year-old driver of the car was travelling with her granddaughter and miscalculated the amount of time she had to do the turn, police said.
"There's no discussion as to who's at fault," Cpl. Bert Paquet said. "The female driver was doing the U-turn and thought she had enough time."
The motorcyclist attempted to swerve out of the way of the vehicle, but struck the front end.
No charges have been laid at this time.
