Creep Catchers operate by filming their encounters with alleged child predators.

A Surrey-based vigilante group is being investigated by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC).

Surrey Creep Catchers, a group which claims to use various online methods to target alleged pedophiles looking to meet under-age kids throughout the Fraser Valley, is being investigated following a complaint received by the commissioner.

OIPC spokesperson Jane Zatylny was unable to comment further other than to say a complaint had been made.

Members of the Surrey group, led by Ryan LaForge, pose as minors online and then set up a meeting point with the alleged pedophile with cameras rolling.

The videos are then posted on YouTube and Facebook.

In August of last year, the group caught Surrey RCMP Const. Dario Devic at a Surrey mall after he was allegedly meeting up with a girl under the age of 16.

Devic was charged one month later with child luring.

The group also snared an elementary school principal from Mission in a similar sting.
