White Rock RCMP have launched a Canada-wide appeal for the public's help this week in identifying a man who was caught on surveillance more than a month ago stealing from an undisclosed uptown liquor store.
The theft occurred around 8:40 p.m. Aug. 12; several bottles of liquor were taken, according to the news release issued Thursday.
The culprit was recorded walking around the store looking at various products before placing the bottles into a bag and leaving without paying.
"It's a fairly large amount of liquor," Const. Shaileshni Molison told Peace Arch News.
Molison said the delay in reporting the incident publicly was a result of difficulty accessing the surveillance video. The store name and exact location is not being disclosed at the direction of the lead investigator, she said.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set, dark-skinned male wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a baseball cap.
Anyone with information on his identity or the incident is asked to call White Rock RCMP at 778-593-3600. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
