Surrey RCMP are investigating after a 63-year-old Coquitlam man was found unconscious and bleeding on a South Surrey road Tuesday afternoon.

Preliminary investigation does not point to foul play.

The victim was doing traffic-control for a film set when he was found in the 17100-block of 20 Avenue around 4 p.m.

It is unclear if he was struck by a vehicle or collapsed due to a medical event.

One witness told police the man was seen sitting in a chair shortly before he was found on the road, bleeding from his head.

Police were called by B.C. Ambulance Service to assist at the scene.

The victim was airlifted to hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Police had 20 Avenue blocked off in both directions.
