Vehicle fire sparked on highway

Traffic backed up briefly while crews douse car fire

Vernon firefighters hose down a vehicle on Highway 97 south Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic was backed up briefly along Highway 97 south just outside of Vernon Tuesday afternoon as fire crews hosed down a Chevy Trailblazer on the side of the highway.

The vehicle was being towed behind a motorhome when it caught fire.

The owner, a south Surrey man visiting the area, was uninjured and his motorhome was spared damage.
