Volunteers haul garbage from South Surrey riverbank

The Nicomekl riverbank is getting a much-needed cleanup, thanks to volunteers organized by the White Rock and Surrey Naturalists.

More than three dozen volunteers organized by the White Rock and Surrey Naturalists gave a stretch of the Nicomekl riverbank a much-needed cleanup last week.

The group spent four hours removing garbage – including 3,000 lbs of styrofoam – from 1.3 kilometres of sensitive shoreline.
