Surrey Mounties are looking at recommending charges against a motorist involved in a crash in Whalley on May 19 that sent seven people to hospital.

One person was seriously injured, after two cars crashed in the 10300-block of 128 Street.

“An occupant from one of the vehicles remains in hospital, all others have been released,” Cpl. Vanessa Munn told the Now-Leader on May 29. “The investigation remains ongoing and charges will likely be recommended in relation to one of the drivers.

“Dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm is the main charge being considered at this point in the investigation, however that could change based on the evidence.”

Police closed the road as Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigating Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) investigate.

“Police will be conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision, including what role speed or other driving behaviours may have played in this collision,” Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha said.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash, which happened just after 10 a.m., and has dash camera footage to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
