Two men accused of assaulting a White Rock city councillor outside of his Marine Drive pub last year are due back in court on Jan. 31.

Andrew Ronald Bader and David Hugh Watson are scheduled for arraignment in connection with the March 20 incident.

That's the date that Bill Lawrence, a current city councillor and former co-owner of the Sandpiper Pub, was assaulted while working as a host at the front door.

Lawrence said he was put in a headlock, punched in the ribs and targeted repeatedly with "the N-word."

Bader and Watson are each facing one count of assault causing bodily in connection with the incident. Charges were sworn in late June.
