The iconic KFC bucket – reportedly one of the last still standing – is no more.

The giant red-and-white bin outside of the 1531 Johnston Rd. franchise was removed Thursday morning.

Tony Roy says he was told by a worker at the scene that the bucket was to be removed due to safety concerns.

By early Thursday afternoon, all that was left standing was the post where the the bucket had perched.

KFC staff Thursday afternoon could not comment as to why the bucket was removed – deferring comments to a manager – but did confirm to Peace Arch News that, “someone came and they loaded it onto their truck and it’s gone.”

More to come…
