When it comes to fraud, the City of White Rock is the third most dangerous place in Canada, according to a new ranking published last week by Maclean’s magazine.

Taking all crime into account, however, the seaside city is the country’s 68th most dangerous place.

The annual ranking uses Statistics Canada data on police-reported crime. The latest figures were derived from 2016 statistics.

In that year, police in White Rock – with a population of 21,829 – logged 282 fraud files, according to the report.

By comparison, Langley City, with a population of 27,834 – nearly a third higher than White Rock – recorded 197 fraud incidents, earning 12th spot for that crime. The municipality was sixth, however, for all crime.

Surrey (population 514,522) ranked 32nd for all crime, and Langley Township (population 114,940) was 46th.

North Battleford, Sask., tops the list of most dangerous places in Canada.
