Young man shot in Surrey on Friday

Police investigating what they believe was a targeted incident.

Police are investigating a shooting in Newton that left a young man in hospital on Friday (April 22).

At about 2 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a call of several shots fired in the neighbourhood of 126 Street and 67B Avenue.

A young man, who appeared to be injured, was seen leaving the area in a vehicle.

The victim, a 21-year-old from Surrey, was located in hospital with a minor wound. He was not cooperative and is known to police.

It is believed the incident occurred on or near the street and there is no indication at this stage of a connection to any nearby residence.

The shooting appears to have been targeted, said police.
