YEO - Agnes Elizabeth
Agnes Elizabeth Yeo (nee Arbuckle), of White Rock BC passed away on July 29, 2008 at the age of 94. Agnes was born on January 7, 1914, one of six children of Elizabeth Mary (Colter) and Matthew Arbuckle, in Crystal City, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm and together with her younger sister Dorothy, left the farm as a young woman to find work in Winnipeg. There, Agnes, who had a fine, pure contralto voice, met a young organist and choir director named Melvin Yeo, and in August of 1943 they were married. Music led them to Yorkton, Regina, and finally Ottawa, where they settled until retirement, when they made the move to White Rock. Mel became organist and choir director at Holy Trinity, and Agnes sang in the choir. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Melvin, brothers Herb, Glen and Roy, and sister Edith. She will be greatly missed by her sister Dorothy and daughter Margaret. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday 6 August, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 15115 Roper Ave., White Rock BC.
