Agnes Florence Gaspard

July 27, 2020

July 6, 1929 - July 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes in White Rock on July 27, 2020 at the age of 91.
Born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on July 6, 1929, she travelled with her family and resettled in Vancouver as a teenager. After completing high school at Templeton, she began working as a secretary for MSA.
In 1953, while on holiday in Comox with her sister, she met Edward Gaspard. After a whirlwind 3 month courtship they married in Vancouver. Resigning from her position, she and her new husband lived in Williams Lake, Chilliwack and Winnipeg before finally settling in Surrey. She channeled her energies into homemaking, motherhood and her garden.
As her children grew older she re-entered the workforce with the Surrey School Board working in the District Resource Centre from 1975 to 1987, in a job that she loved and excelled in.
Following her retirement, she and Ed built a retirement home in Comox on the water. She enjoyed watching the cruise ships, local wildlife and going for romantic walks with her husband. With a steely determination she battled the elements (gale force winds and salt spray) to produce, yet another, beautiful flower and vegetable garden.
A friend, confidant and sympathetic ear, her humor and presence will be greatly missed.
She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Ed, brother Bill, sisters Mary and Catherine. A loving wife, sister and mother, she is survived by her son Jim, daughter-in-law Gina, daughter Joanne and grandchildren Laura, Michelle and Eric.
By Agnes' request, there will be no service.
