Born November 3, 1912 in Edmonton, passed away July 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Helen (Holly); children Gail and John (Joan); grandchildren Jena, Jeremy and Kayley; and sister Catherine (Ian). Al received a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1935. He had a long and distinguished career in the laundry and dry cleaning industry in Toronto, Vancouver and finally in Winnipeg where he became President and General Manager of Stanley Brock Ltd. Throughout his life Al was an active churchman and a dedicated worker for various organizations including the Canadian Save the Children Fund, Winnipeg North End Community Ministry, Manitoba Citizen's Bursary Fund for Native Peoples and the World Federalists. Al also enjoyed golf and travel especially to his ancestral home, the Orkney Islands, Scotland. A Memorial Service will be held at Crescent United Church, 2756 - 127th Street, Surrey on Monday, July 28th at 2 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
