Alexander Laurence Daniel Martin MacPhee

May 10, 2003

Born in Glenrobertson, Ontario on September 20th, 1924, passed away on May 10th, 2003, following a brief illness in Peace Arch Hospital. He leaves to mourn his loss; wife Kathleen (Kay) and his beloved daughter Deborrah Munro (Jack); four sons Daniel, Norman (Randy), Malcolm, and Gregory (Lynn); eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews across Canada and the U.S.A.; his western in-law family who he cherished as his own. Predeceased by his parents and his four sisters, Margaret, Rita, Norma and Theresa, all of Ontario. Dan started west for the harvest in the fall of 1943, ending up at his uncle's in Evansbury, Alberta, where he met Kay. He spent a year working in loggin camps up in Burrard Inlet, returning to Alberta and married in June of 1945. He worked in the Alberta Oilfields most of his working life, but "The Coast" was his love, moving to B.C. in 1971, first to the Island for 20 years, then to South Surrey. He loved to travel, covering most of Canada and the U.S. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Lions Club on the Island, involved in setting up the first Lifeline with the Nanaimo Hospital. Having the grandchildren visit and our many old friends was always a pleasure. We thank them for taking the time to spend with us. The family would like to thank the 4th floor Peace Arch nursing staff for their wonderful compassionate care, and the doctors for keeping him comfortable in his final fight. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 5:30 pm at Victory Funeral Centre, 14831-28th Avenue, Surrey, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Lung Association, P.O. Box 34009, Stn. D, Vancouver, B.C. V6J 9Z9 would be appreciated.
