FINDLAY, Alfred Leslie passed away at Peace Arch Hospital on May 5th, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his dear wife Inez in 2006 and his sister Marie in 2002. He is deeply missed by his daughter, Jeanette, son Les and his wife Britt and family and friends. Alf was born on July 6, 1918 in Penticton, BC, the oldest of seven children and grew up in nearby Kaleden. In 1940, he moved to Vancouver to work in the shipyards (for the war effort) and in 1941 he and Inez were married and lived in Vancouver for the next 45 years. Alf worked in steel construction until his retirement in 1985 when he and Inez moved to South Surrey. He was a decent, patient, gentle, warm and hospitable man, always welcoming people with a smile and thanking them for coming, even when he could barely speak in his last days in the hospital. Throughout his life he trusted God and believed that Jesus is the way to salvation. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 25th at 1:00 p.m. at White Rock Baptist Church - 1657 140th Street, Surrey. No flowers, please.
