Feb 6, 1930 - Mar 7, 2018
Alison von Hammerstein, age 88, died March 7th after a long decline due to dementia.

Alison is lovingly remembered by her family: daughters Debbie Stewart (Bill), Amanda Harby (Manu Ronse) and Levecke Mas (Kathy Holzer), and her grandchildren Erin Peterson, Adam Peterson, Leila Mas and Emma Mas, as well as her great grandchildren Sydney, Jace, Ethan and Dylan. Predeceased by her loving husband, Charles du Plessis whom she met and married in their later years.

All of us, hold close our memories from our happy days and time spent with our loving and generous Mum and our Granny Ali.

Alison (nee Prim) was born in Bristol England on February 6, 1930. An only child, she was raised in the loving and doting care of her mother and four beloved Aunts.

Alison lived life to the fullest: bravely leaving England and emigrating to the "wilds" of British Columbia in the 1950's, proudly earning a nursing degree at age 45 and sharing her life with 4 husbands over 7 decades. Alison spent many happy years in White Rock and Crescent Beach raising her family, designing and renovating homes and working on volunteer projects.

Alison had a passion for painting, textile arts, making things beautiful, swimming and most of all, dancing! She loved throwing a good party, loved all music, and good food and she always, always had a plan. She loved spoiling her girls and her grandchildren.

Alison was 77 when she met her fourth husband, Charles du Plessis. They were on the bus in Ocean Park going to their medical appointments. They married within a few of months and had four very happy years together before Alison went into a nursing home with vascular dementia. They were very close and Charles was wonderfully kind and loving to Alison. Charles seemed to call her "luv" in every sentence and it seemed as if he was really saying "i love you".

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Evergreen Baptist and PacificCare. Their assistance was remarkable for their competence, professionalism and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Alzheimers' Society and/or to the Evergreen Baptist Campus of Care would be appreciated.
