Alphonse passed away at Peace Arch Hospital on August 25, 2016 after a lengthy but brave battle with kidney failure. He was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1956. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Lucy, his six children, Diana (Dave), Eileen (Nick), Joyce (Alec), Andy (Eloisa), Virginia (Dany) and Roger (Bea). He had thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He loved his family dearly. Alphonse is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters in the Netherlands and will be missed by all his family and friends.

He enjoyed is work in the electrical field and retired from the City of Surrey in 1988. He continued to educate students in the electrical field, which was his passion. He truly loved nature, especially camping, fishing, hiking and sailing.


We wish to thank the amazing staff at Peace Arch Hospital,especially Dr. Joshi, Dr. Harper and the fantastic nurses in Hospice and 6 North for all their wonderful care in Dad's last months. Dad also had excellent care at Surrey Memorial Nephrology, Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the Community Dialysis Clinics at Abbotsford and Panorama Surrey. We thank the incredible drivers and attendants from SNT (Special Needs Transport) for taking Dad to dialysis and his multiple appointments and keeping him smiling.


Alphonse's funeral will be held on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Parish located at 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack, BC.
