It is with deep sadness that we announce that Ann Patricia Wallis (Pat) has passed away in Melville Hospice at the age of 80. She showed tremendous courage for three years battling cancer and enduring pain after being seriously injured by a truck while crossing in a crosswalk.
Pat was born in England and moved to Canada with Harold and their daughters, Caroline and Susan, in 1967. The family landed in Winnipeg, but very soon moved to BC and lived in Kerrisdale in the 1970s.
Pat was a very dedicated and hardworking employee. She worked for 27 years at IGA. Our mom gave us a good life.
Pat was a loving grandmother to Spencer and Veronica. She spent countless hours with them when they were growing up with love and attention until the end.
Pat was very generous and showed her love by giving gifts and cards. She always remembered people's birthdays, graduations and weddings.
Pat enjoyed going to the Hot Jazz Club with her friends in her younger days. She loved travelling and socializing with friends. Her favourite holiday was Costa Rica. Pat loved to shop, especially for furniture and home decor. She had such a flair for decorating. She was an exceptional knitter.
Pat was very passionate about her beliefs. She was a fierce anti smoker and she was very concerned about old growth trees in BC and even trees in White Rock being lost to development.
Celebrating Christmas was special to our mom. Her turkey dinner always tasted so good. She would always say, "I hope the dinner tastes okay. Just try to eat it anyway",
when it was always so delicious. Christmas won't feel the same.
Pat's brother and sister (Kathleen and Peter) in the UK will miss Pat immensely and have communicated throughout their lives.
Our mom was unique, very generous, strong, hard working, loved her grandkids, was proud of her daughters, and will be deeply missed. To all her friends throughout her life, we know that you meant so much to her. Rest in peace, mom. You won't be forgotten.
A private family gathering will be held to honour our mother.
