With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father.
Born in Vancouver, the only son of George & Myrtle Hayward. He left us peacefully after struggling in 2020 with Parkinson's and all the restrictions of COVID-19. Predeceased by his wife Mary in 2011, he leaves behind his 2 sons Greg (Carol) and Brett (Deb), his daughter Lori (Jack); 8 grandchildren, Tiffany, Dan, Justina, Annemarie, Natalie, Bryan, Madelaine & Chelsea; and 7 great-grandchildren, Emma, Audrey, Hensley, James, Wells, Sophie & Matthew.
Art grew up in the Dunbar area and was a graduate of Lord Byng Secondary School. Art retired as a Captain for the Vancouver Fire Department in July 1987 after serving the city for 31 years. He volunteered at many venues, playing his ukulele, with the Firehouse Five.
He moved to the South Surrey area in 1990 to enjoy his retirement years. He was a man of many trades, interests and adventures. He could make or fix anything, was always willing to help out and left his creativity and handywork all over the Lower Mainland and in our homes. His vast knowledge, expertise and of course perfect margaritas will be missed.
Our family thanks for the care over the last year, The Peninsula Retirement Residence; and for the last month, 6 North Peace Arch Hospital.
Dad's boots will never be filled. With all our love, forever, Greg, Brett, Lori & families
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will only be doing a livestream memorial from Victory Memorial Park. This will be posted on the following link for 30 days as of 1 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021: www.funeraweb.tv/diffusions/24104
