August 31, 1952 - February 19, 2021
It is with heavy hearts the family of Barbara Anne Paterson announce her passing February 19th, 2021 in Campbell River, surrounded by her devoted family after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Alexander Baptist and survived by her loving husband of 48 years Charles, her twin daughters Megan (Aaron) and Robyn and the lights of her life her grandsons Alex and Owen. She is also survived and dearly missed by her sister Eve-Anne, brothers Sandy (Lynn) and George (Di), as well as beloved nieces and nephews and countless wonderful friends.
Barbara was born in Trois Riviere, Quebec August 31st, 1952, she grew up in Hawkesbury, ON and Montreal and met the love of her life Charles at Bishops university in 1971. They had many wonderful adventures one of which was Barbara becoming the 1st female pilot in Antigua, WI.
They travelled by light aircraft throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and the US. They lived in Antigua, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, White Rock, BC and most recently Campbell River to be closer to her grandsons. Barbara was an amazing interior decorator and ran several successful gift stores.
She loved the ocean and spent many weeks exploring all the BC coast by boat and swam in amazingly cold water!
We thank everyone that has helped us over these past years, Dr De Bruin, Dr Morrison, the wonderful home care nurses, Patty (Barbara's favourite respite helper) and all the amazing friends and family that helped us and provided so much love and support.
A hole has been left in all our hearts that will never be filled but we cherish the years we were blessed to have her on this earth. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.
A memorial to be held at a later date.
The family asks that, instead of flowers a donation be made to BC Cancer.
