Brian V. Ludlam

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father Brian, after a brief illness. Remembered lovingly by wife of 70 years, Irene, and his 7 children David (Dee), Cheryl, Janet, Neil, Jean (Brian), Trevor (Sue) and Kate (Phil).

He leaves 8 grandchildren Dwayne (Karen), Vincent, Stephanie (Mike), Stacy (Darren), Deneen (Eric), Naomi (Tim), Andy, and his special girl Meghan. He also leaves 16 great grandchildren.

Born in West Bromwich, England, Dad served in WWII in the Royal Navy as a plane mechanic on a naval carrier which spawned his lifelong love of planes. He married Mom in 1947 and they immigrated to Canada in 1948.

First, to Larder Lake Ontario then to Merritt, BC. He worked in the mining industry until his retirement in 1984 when he and Mom moved to the beautiful BC coast. They travelled extensively enjoying trips especially to Costa Rica and Spain.

He and Mom moved to South Surrey where they lived for the past 30 years. They cherished their many friends in Larder Lake, Merritt, Sechelt and at Breakaways Bays in Surrey.

Dad always had a twinkle in his eye, loved a good tease and we all have fond memories of his kind humour and wit. He was known for his warm hugs, quiet friendship and gentlemanly manners. He loved books, music and had an enviable green thumb.

Mom and Dad loved the wilderness that Canada offered and took every opportunity to explore nature, and they shared this love with their children.

There will be no service as per his request but the family invites friends to remember our Dad and celebrate his life with us at a gathering on Saturday, November 4th from 2 pm - 4 pm at Breakaway Bays Activity Centre, 1840 160th Street.
