BOWERS, Calvin George

November 2, 1927 - June 22, 2016

Cal Bowers passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 in White Rock, BC. He was "one of a kind", who lived his life with a great sense of humour and genuine kindness.

Born and raised in the Town of Mount Royal, Quebec, Cal met the love of his life, Norma (nee Frechette) who predeceased him in 1997. They were married 43 years and spent many happy days on the golf course and travelling to sunny places. Cal will live on in the memories of his children, Dan and Linda (Gary) Gumley and truly be remembered for his generous spirit. He had a special place in his heart for his niece, Joy Russell. Cal took such delight in all of his grandchildren, Alicia, Lisa, Kristina (Dan), Kate and Jane (Linda). Cheering from the sidelines and smiling proudly at their sports, dance and music events, he was a fun and wonderful presence in their lives. Cal's passion while growing up was sports, especially Baseball and Hockey. One of his proudest moments was being called into the Mayor's office of the town of Mount Royal and asked to be Coach, Manager and Player for the Triple A baseball team. They went on to win the championship that year.

He loved a good party and took great delight in making people laugh. In quiet times, he enjoyed listening to country classics and doing crossword puzzles.

He will be dearly missed by many people who's lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.A kind gesture for a neighbour, or any random act of kindness would truly honour the memory of Cal.
