Captain Bill Park

Passed away in White Rock, B.C. on April 17, 2003 after a brief illness. Bill was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba July 18, 1938. His early schooling was in Headingley, Manitoba, moving back to Winnipeg at age 10 to complete his schooling at Grandin School in Fort Garry. Bill later trained as a commercial pilot and worked first as an instructor, then as a bush pilot, mainly in the Sioux Lookout region of northwestern Ontario. He began his airline career at Transair in Winnipeg in August 1972 and through mergers, retired in 1998 as a Captain on the Boeing 737 for Canadian Airlines International after 26 years of service. Bill will be remembered as a gentleman, professional and a man of good humour. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched. It is with great sorrow that we say good bye. Bill was predeceased by parents Mary and Alex Park, and survived by daughter Shannon (Scott) Beesley, and his two sons Shawn and Shane. Also grandchildren Brian and Madeleine Beesley. Also his brother Jim (Jean) and sisters Noreen (Bob) Hale, and Elva Turnbull as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service and interment was held Wednesday April 23, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Victory Gardens Funeral Home, 14831 - 28 Ave. Surrey, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
