September 27, 1951 - February 3, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl (Charly) Tyndall, age 73, at Peace Arch Hospital on February 3, 2025, from complications related to cancer.

Charly was born Carl Arthur Tyndall in Kenora, Ontario, on Sept. 27, 1951. He grew up in Kenora and later moved to Winnipeg, where he attended the University of Winnipeg and worked at the Winnipeg Tribune. He relocated to Ottawa and worked in advertising for Simpson's Department Store and the Sparks Street Mall. In 2002, he moved to Vancouver and eventually to White Rock.

Charly worked for many years at the Launching Pad in White Rock, as custodian for the United Church and the Wind and Tide Daycare, and most recently, as a Crossing Guard for Ray Shepherd School. He also worked winters at the Extreme Weather Shelter and as a private assistant to seniors with dementia. His good humor, compassion, work ethic, and storytelling endeared him to many. He was a well-loved member of every community in which he engaged. His final years working as a Crossing Guard brought so much joy - to both him and the children he protected. He will be greatly missed.

Charly was predeceased by his mother, Kirk, father, Fred and sister, Geraldine Mebesius. He is survived by his sister Joanne James (Donny) of Dryden, Ontario, and brothers Mel (Fran) of New Westminster, Roy (Hilda) of Winnipeg, and Richard (Petra) of Mill Creek, WA, as well as four nieces and six nephews.

A special gathering to share stories and remember Charly will be held on April 5, 2025, at St. John Presbyterian Church,1480 George St. White Rock, B.C. at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Sourcesfoundation.ca
